Dynamic Metals Ltd (ASX:DYM) has set the wheels in motion for its inaugural drill program at the Widgiemooltha Project near WA’s Kambalda nickel-gold district.
The West Aussie-focused lithium, nickel and gold explorer has mobilised a reverse circulation (RC) drill rig to complete the five-hole program, targeting the Dordie Far West nickel prospect.
Dynamic listed on the ASX earlier this month following a A$7 million initial public offering and it has promised to use the funds to accelerate exploration across its portfolio of critical mineral projects.
Simultaneously, Dynamic is gearing up for regional aircore drilling at its Lake Percy lithium-nickel project in the southeastern Goldfields.
Beyond the drill programs, the explorer is considering the next steps after rounding out a reconnaissance field trip at the Deep Well nickel-copper-platinum group element (PGE) project in WA’s Murchison.
Exploring Dordie Far West
Dynamic’s Dordie Far West target is on the northwest margin of the Widgiemooltha dome, where anomalous nickel results were detected during RC drilling in the late 2000s.
Recent geological modelling of this historical data provides further incentive to drill test the area for further nickel mineralisation.
Previous nickel intercepts at Dordie Far West include:
- 8 metres at 1.3% nickel from 26 metres downhole;
- 2 metres at 1.7% from 12 metres downhole;
- 2 metres at 1.9% from 26 metres downhole;
- 2 metres at 1.4% from 28 metres downhole; and
- 4 metres at 1.4% from 36 metres downhole.
Further permits are in place for drilling at Widgiemooltha’s Mandilla, Higginsville and Sunday Soak prospects.
Drilling Lake Percy
Dynamic has also advanced preparations for aircore work at Lake Percy, targeting nickel sulphide mineralisation.
The first program aims to drill roughly 100 holes across five targets defined using the compiled historical dataset and reprocessed fixed-wing aeromagnetic data.
Ultimately, drilling will provide more information to help the team target potential lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatite mineralisation.
Defining Deep Well
A recent field trip provided further geological context for Dynamic’s anomalous rock chip sample library at Deep Well.
As detailed in the company’s prospectus, Dynamic will use the new info to help plan and permit its initial aircore program, slated to begin in the second half of 2023.
