ATOME Energy names ammonia and fertiliser director

ATOME Energy PLC (AIM:ATOM) said it has named Terje Bakken as director for ammonia and fertiliser markets with effect from 1 February 2023.

Bakken will report to chief executive Olivier Mussat, the green energy and ammonia production company said. His full-time appointment to the role follows a successful period as a senior commercial advisor to ATOME, the company added.

“Terje's expertise will allow us to maximise revenues from offtakers for our green ammonia. His arrival will accelerate the already rapid progress on our projects,” said Mussat in a statement.

Prior to joining ATOME, Bakken spent time as senior vice president and head of supply and trade with Yara International, a fertiliser and chemical group.

He then went on to join EuroChem Group, one of the largest fertiliser groups in the world, where he was head of marketing and sales and a member of the management board and strategy committee.

ATOME said he brings “significant experience” to the business, with 35 years of know-how in the international fertiliser and ammonia sector.

“My decision to join ATOME reflects my view that the company has the potential to be a world leader in the fast-growing green ammonia market and in sustainable fertiliser solutions,” said Bakken.

ATOME said the role of director for ammonia and fertiliser markets is a non-board position.
