Goodbody Health Ltd (AQSE:GDBY, OTCQB:GDBYF) said its network of UK clinics will start offering multi-cancer screening service, as part of a partnership agreed with a liquid biopsy specialist.
Datar Cancer Genetics, a liquid biopsy company headquartered in India, offers multi-cancer screening based on its circulating tumor cell (CTC) solution Trucheck.
The tests can, according to the Datar website, identify multiple cancer types via a simple blood sample that may be undetectable by present technologies.
Trucheck intelli can also apparently reveal information about the tissue or organ where the tumour originated.
George Thomas, chief executive of Goodbody, said: "Trucheck offers a paradigm shift in cancer screening through a novel process of utilising CTCs to identify cancers in both early and advanced stages, with validation from more than 40,000 individuals.”
He said Trucheck cancer screening solution would be added to the group’s portfolio of health and wellness tests offered through its clinics, “to ensure our customers get the best opportunity to take preventative measures to look after their health, at a convenient and accessible location”.
Dr Vineet Datta, executive director at Datar, said: "There is clear evidence that cancer screening led early detection saves lives and leads to a less radical treatment with fewer side effects. Analysis of CTCs using our advanced technology through this innovative platform allows highly sensitive detection of cancer at early stages.”
He said Trucheck has been certified with a European CE mark as a cancer screening solution for single and multi-organ cancer screening.
Datar's tests for early detection of breast and prostate cancer have been granted 'Breakthrough Designation' by the US Food and Drug Administration.
