Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has confirmed it suffered “network configuration issues” to its Teams, Outlook, Xbox and Microsoft 365 servers following a spike in reported outages this morning.
Downdetector.com, a website tracking online outages, reported at 8am today close to 15,000 user outages across the company’s services- with 4,633 reports of outlook disconnections at 8.04am.
The disruption occurred throughout the UK with London and Manchester appearing to be the worst affected, a heatmap from the website revealed.

The tech giant confirmed the issue was internal and not a cyber-attack, an issue companies like Royal Mail and Twitter recently faced.
“We're investigating issues impacting multiple Microsoft 365 services,” a tweet from Microsoft stated, before adding: “We've isolated the problem to networking configuration issues, and we're analysing the best mitigation strategy to address these.”
Microsoft’s cloud platform Azure also suffered blackouts this morning, with the company tweeting at 11am to confirm it had mitigated the issues.
“We're continuing to monitor the recovery across the service and some customers are reporting mitigation,” a tweet from Microsoft 365 stated.
Microsoft Teams, a business communication platform, reported 2,263 disconnections this morning- with disruptions for users still being reported at midday.
Teams was launched in 2017 and rose to prominence during lockdown by enabling people to work from home, but today’s events may shine a light on the negatives of reduced in-person workforces.
