4:05pm: Guardforce AI, Appili Therapeutics shares add to gains late afternoon
WonderFi Technologies closed up 3% at $0.32, while Appili Therapeutics rose 18% to $0.065, Guardforce AI Co finished 22% higher to $0.22, and Corus Entertainment (TSX:CJR.B) ended down 16% at $1.91.
12:40pm: WonderFi Technologies, Guardforce AI shares make big gains
WonderFi Technologies Inc (TSX:WNDR, OTCQB:WONDF) (WonderFi Technologies Inc (TSX:WNDR, OTCQB:WONDF)) shares jumped 13% to $0.35 on Friday, after advancing 29% on Thursday, following a media report stating that the digital assets technology company was engaged in advanced merger talks with Coinsquare Ltd.
WonderFi issued a statement acknowledging that it has held preliminary discussions with various third parties with respect to both potential acquisitions and the company being acquired, which is consistent with past practice and the company's general acquisition strategy.
As well, shares of Appili Therapeutics Inc (TSX-V:APLI) gained 9% to $0.06, on volume of more than 2 million shares, as the biopharmaceutical company said the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a Notice of Allowance of new patent claims for ATI-1501, Appili’s liquid oral reformulation of the antibiotic metronidazole.
A notice of allowance is issued by the USPTO to indicate that the application has passed the examination, according to the company.
Guardforce AI Co Ltd (NASDAQ:GFAI), meanwhile, reported that its Thailand subsidiary Guardforce Cash Solutions Security (GFCS) has secured two long-term contracts with pre-existing clients for its secured logistics and cash handling services, further strengthening its leading position in that country. Guardforce stock moved up 11% to $0.20 following the announcement.

And, Corus Entertainment (TSX:CJR.B) Inc shares slid 16% to $1.91 on Friday after the media and content company announced that its first-quarter revenue decline 7% year over year to $431.2 million, while its net income for the period sank 60% to $31.4 million.
