Disney tells staff to get back to the office

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) boss Bob Iger has said that staff will have to work at least four days in the office, starting in March, according to a BBC News report.

Hybrid employees at the entertainment company will now be asked to work in the office from Monday through to Thursday, the BBC report said.

Iger, who rejoined the company in November following two and half years away, has told employees that face-to-face collaboration is “key” to a creative business.

"Nothing can replace the ability to connect, observe, and create with peers that come from being physically together, nor the opportunity to grow professionally by learning from leaders and mentors," Iger said in a memo to employees seen by the BBC.

"It is my belief that working together more in person will benefit the company's creativity, culture, and our employees' careers," he added, according to the report.

Many employees have transitioned to a hybrid blend of working following the coronavirus pandemic, choosing on which days they worked in the office. Snap, Tesla, and Uber have all also announced similar requirements to bring staff back into their offices.
