FTSE 100 hits four-year highs - Market Report

FTSE 100 hits four-year highs - Market Report

The FTSE 100 has risen above the 7,700 point mark in early trading - if its still there at the close it'll be the highest finish since June 2018! The punchy start to the week is being driven by miners Glencore, Antofagasta and Anglo-American.

Elsewhere, commentators are expecting the government to announce a reduction in the energy support scheme for businesses. Some UK manufacturers are claiming to fear job cuts and even black outs as a result.

Onto the large caps now, and telecomms giant Vodafone has announced its selling it's selling its Hungarian arm for €1.7bn. The £24bn multinational has now entered binding terms in relation for the sale, which was first announced in August 2022.

And in small caps, Poolbeg Pharma says it's happy with the initial data analysis for its potential influenza treatment POLB001, while Cobra Resources has announced a maiden rare earths resource for the Wudinna project in South Australia.

That's all for now, today's report was written by Jai Singh and presented by me, Thomas Warner.
