Galliford Try wins £95mln prison construction contract

Galliford Try Holdings PLC (LSE:GFRD) said it has won a £95mln contract to deliver a new prison facility at HMP Rye Hill, near Rugby in Warwickshire.

The facility is a privately run training prison that is operated by G4S (LSE:GFS) on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.

Galliford Try’s Building arm was appointed to what was one of four prison expansion projects announced by the government two years ago.

In a statement, Galliford Try group chief executive Bill Hocking said: “The custodial sector remains an important part of our sustainable growth strategy targeting high-quality projects within the public realm.

“We look forward to working with G4S (LSE:GFS) and the MoJ to deliver this expansion to HMP Rye Hill, improving facilities for staff, prisoners and visitors."
