Universal Ibogaine Inc (TSX-V:IBO) said it has laid the groundwork during 2022 to enter the new year positioned to advance its planned clinical trial involving semi-synthesized Ibogaine HCL (ibogaine hydrochloride) for the treatment of opioid use disorder.
In a year-end summary of its 2022 accomplishments, Universal Ibogaine CEO Nick Karos noted that 2022 was a busy year of behind-the-scenes activity laying the foundations with Health Canada in preparation for the company’s planned clinical trial application and sourcing the related ibogaine drug supply.
“We are finalizing discussions with several potential funding partners and intend on closing the second round of our current convertible debt financing very shortly,” he said.

Karos continued: “2023 will be a pivotal year for our company, for our shareholders and for Canadians who are actively seeking ibogaine treatment."
Other highlights from 2022 include the development of Universal Ibogaine’s licensing model, where the company will supply its medical grade Ibogaine HCL along with its proven safety profile to licensed detox centers, and a major overhaul of the facilities at its flagship facility, the Kelburn Center for addiction and mental health.
