The festive break means a quiet week is due, with no major companies providing scheduled to issue updates next week.
That might always change of course but for now, it's second-line economic data that holds sway.
Notably, UK house prices and US oil inventories data are set to be released next Thursday.
The US will also provide updates on its housing prices on Tuesday.
What company news there is limited to a scattering of AGMs though with more rail strikes promised, attendance at these is likely to be sketchy at best.
Hotel Chocolat Group PLC (AIM:HOTC) might be worth keeping an eye on in case it gives an indication about Christmas trading in its pre-AGM comments.
It if does, it will be the first retailer of note to update.
