Ferrexpo brings one pelletiser line back into operation, says can meet existing customer demands

Ferrexpo PLC (LSE:FXPO), a producer of iron ore pellets in Ukraine, said it is now receiving sufficient levels of power to bring one pelletiser line back into operation.

“This will allow the group, together with its stockpiled material, to meet the requirements of existing customer contracts,” it said in a statement.

The FTSE 250 company was forced to suspend its operations in October after Russian missile strikes damaged state-owned electrical infrastructure.

The producer and exporter of high-grade iron ore pellets to the global steel industry said about 0.3mln tonnes of pellets have been produced to date in the fourth quarter of 2022 as a result of interruptions and continued instability within the state-owned electricity network.

Despite interruptions to the group's production, shipments to customers during the fourth quarter have continued at a run rate of approximately 250,000 tonnes per month, it said.

Ferrexpo, which produced 11.2mln tonnes of iron ore pellets in 2021, said it expects to produce about 5.9-6.0mln tonnes this year.
