Kavango Resources PLC (LSE:KAV, OTC:KVGOF), the Botswana-focussed metals exploration company, announced that it has appointed Jeremy S Brett as an executive director and Peter Wynter Bee as a non-executive director with effect from 1 January 2023.
Brett is a senior geophysical consultant with 28 years of experience in international mineral exploration in most commodities, while Wynter Bee is the co-founder and chairman of Moxico Resources, the majority owner and operator of the producing Mimbula Copper Project in Zambia.
David Smith, Kavango’s non-executive chairman, described the appointments as another “significant step forward” for the company following its recent strategic financing.
“Peter brings a wealth of commercial experience in the mining exploration and developments sectors to the board. As a co-founder of Moxico Resources, Peter has enjoyed considerable success in bringing the 93.7Mt Mimbula Copper Project into production in Zambia,” Smith said in a statement.
“Jeremy, meanwhile, has been working closely with Kavango since February 2022. Over this period, he has played a key role in enhancing the company's exploration programmes. Jeremy now joins the board, as we enter the next crucial growth phase for Kavango,” Smith added.
The company noted that Brett has built his career for 26 years with MPH Consulting Limited and has consulted to more than 100 of Canada's leading junior & major exploration/mining companies and governments on five continents. In his work as a consultant at Kavango, he has been “instrumental” in overhauling the company's exploration processes, professional compliance, and significantly deepened Kavango's understanding of geophysical surveying technologies and techniques, the company said.
Wynter Bee is an experienced lawyer who has focused on financing and managing mining companies, it added. Following a period as a general counsel for KPMG, he became general counsel and director of Reunion Mining and has served as director and managing director of Zincox Resources.
He has raised capital for the development of projects since 1990, with successful projects including the development of a gold mine in Zambia, a copper mine in Zimbabwe and the Skorpion zinc mine in Namibia prior to its takeover by Anglo-American.
