Co-op has inked a deal with Just Eat to offer rapid grocery deliveries with services to begin rolling out early next year.
Initially available in 50 stores, Co-op hopes to expand to over 1,000 locations across the country by Spring 2023.
Shoppers will be available to order groceries using the Just Eat app and website, giving them access to the retailer’s discounts and promotions.
Just Eat, quoted in the Retail Gazette, said consumers can expect delivery in “as little as 30 minutes.”
“Co-op stores are well placed in local communities to provide quick, easy and convenient home deliveries – whether a full shop or last-minute top-ups,” said Co-op e-commerce director Chris Conway.
“We are committed to exploring new and innovative ways to increase access to our products and services and, with our members and customers leading busy lives, ease, speed and convenience is a cornerstone of our approach.”
Last September, Co-op revealed its new strategy, which focused on convenience and a commitment to offering greater value.
Analysts at Shore Capital note how buying trends as a result of the cost-of-living crisis have benefited Co-op.
Consumers making more frequent trips with smaller baskets as opposed to larger visits with full trolleys are working to Co-ops advantage, the analysts noted.
