Dundas Minerals hits 80 metres of sulphides at Central exploration target

Dundas Minerals Ltd (ASX:DUN) has completed an exploratory hole to 552.5 metres of depth at the Central exploration target of the namesake Dundas Project in Western Australia, revealing large intervals of semi-massive and disseminated sulphide mineralisation.

The company struck zones of pyrrhotite, pyrite and chalcopyrite sulphide mineralisation, types of iron and copper sulphides. The zones include:

  • 10.25 metres of continuous semi-massive pyrrhotite (40% visual volume estimate), disseminated pyrite (10% visual volume estimate) and trace chalcopyrite within a logged graphite schist from 534.85 metres;
  • 6.6 metres of highly disseminated sulphides (pyrrhotite and pyrite) in five intervals ranging from 0.39 metres to 2.9 metres at depths between 174.8 metres and 547.8 metres; and.
  • 79.9 metres of disseminated sulphide (pyrite) at various intervals from 81 metres of depth to 534.9 metres.

DHEM survey begins

Dundas has already cased the exploration hole at the Central target for a downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey which will offer more information about the geology and mineralisation of the target.

Drill core from this hole will also be transported to Kalgoorlie for cutting, sampling and assay submission, with results expected in late January next year.

Dundas is encouraged by the 10.25-metre zone of semi-massive pyrrhotite in particular, which is highly conductive and supports a model of abundant sulphides within a hydrothermal mineral system at the Central exploration target.

Additionally, Dundas believes the sulphides and graphite contained in this latest hole are not large enough in volume to account for a recently modelled audiomagnetotellurics (AMT) anomaly in the area, meaning another mineralised system may be present – the DHEM survey will provide confirmation either way.
