Blackbird PLC (AIM:BIRD, OTCQX:BBRDF)’s shares jumped almost 20% to 13.7p after announcing its technology licensee EVS had launched its web-based editing application, IPD-VIA Create.
EVS Broadcast Equipment is a Belgian live sports production company and Blackbird chairman Ian McDonough described the deal as “absolutely huge” in an interview with Proactive.
“This is a massive inflexion in terms of scale and probably in terms of prestige to now be deeply embedded in EVS’ production management system,” McDonough said.
He went on to add that the service, IPD-VIA Create, is not exclusive to EVS, and would be open for sale to other clients.
McDonough was speaking to Proactive after Blackbird had announced the launch of its web-based editing application.
IPD-VIA Create, which was built in collaboration with Blackbird, is fully integrated into EVS' ecosystem and provides instant access to content through a browser-based interface.
As a result, users can work with their assets from anywhere in the world and immediately view and push edited content to craft editors or directly distribute it in broadcast quality to multiple channels, Blackbird said in a statement.
Blackbird announced the deal in September 2021, although the identity of the partner had remained unknown until today.
EVS has licensed Blackbird’s technology for a five-year period in a deal worth a minimum €2mln.
