FTSE 100 recovers but strikes will continue - Market Report

The FTSE 100 recovered from yesterday’s three-week lows this morning, ticking up to around 7,450 points.

It’s a relatively quiet day in the markets, not helped by rail strikes. RMT union members rejected a pay offer from Network Rail yesterday, meaning that disruption will continue.

Further afield, the former boss of FTX trading Sam Bankman-Fried’s has been arrested in the Bahamas over allegations of financial offences relating to the company’s dramatic collapse.

Among the small caps, upstream oil and gas company Beacon Energy has seen the period of exclusivity for its potential takeover of a European oil and gas company extended into late December.

And explorer Empire Metals jumped after confirming it added two new exploration licenses at its Pitfield copper project in Western Australia.
