ASX jumps ahead of November CPI readout - Market Report

The ASX launched back into the green as Wall Street readies for November CPI data this week.

The benchmark ASX 200 jumped 0.6% to 7,223 points, while the All Ords bounced 0.5%.

Overnight, New York markets snapped their losing streak — all four benchmark indices gained more than 1% by the closing bell.

All in all, 60% of stocks advanced, while just under half are trading below their 200-day moving average.

Meanwhile, commodities reversed last week’s narrative— crude bounced back into the green and gold prices softened.

And Iron ore dipped 1% to US$108.40 a tonne as China tempers its crude steel output.

On the currency front, the Aussie dollar dropped 0.66% overnight. It’s buying 67 US cents and 55 British pence.

Checking in with today’s top stories, ASIC has launched proceedings against 11 current and former directors at The Star Entertainment Group.

And Dr Paul McKenzie is set to become the CEO and MD at biotech mammoth CSL.

Among the small caps, Sunstone Metals has delivered a 2.7-million-ounce gold equivalent resource at its Bramaderos camp in Ecuador.

And Kingston Resources has secured $1.5 million as part of its Livingstone Gold Project sale.
