Green Critical Minerals appoints sales and marketing advisor to tap into 150 graphite end-use markets and applications

Green Critical Minerals Ltd (ASX:GCM) (formerly Chase Mining Corporation Ltd) has appointed Christopher Whiteley to the role of sales and marketing advisor for the McIntosh Project.

He will be charged with identifying the most technical and commercially economic end-use applications for McIntosh flake graphite products with a specific focus on nuclear, semiconductor, aerospace and lithium-ion batteries applications including spherical purified graphite (SPG) conductive additive grades.

Note, there are more than 150 graphite end-use markets and applications for Whiteley to tap into.

Highly experienced addition to the team

Whitely is highly experienced in the graphite field and has more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of graphite marketing as well as traditional and advanced graphite product development.

He brings an invaluable amount of commercial and technical graphite product knowledge, including hands-on experience in markets/applications for Li-Ion batteries, alkaline batteries, grid energy storage, semiconductors and aerospace.

SPG a highly specialised area

Whitely is a specialist in SPG and has broad-based battery industry field experience in conductive additives for primary and secondary battery applications, including Li-Ion batteries.

SPG anode conductive additives require a highly crystalline graphite powder meeting specific performance metrics including energy density, tap density, high cycle life, and BET/PSD specifications.

Each target industry, including automotive, industrial, consumer goods, medical devices and aerospace battery applications, have their respective SPG Anode Grade specifications.

GCM will introduce flake graphite products from the McIntosh Graphite Project to the battery industry supply chain to meet application requirements with Whiteley’s specialist guidance.

Graphite powder pricing clarity

Whiteley also has extensive graphite powder pricing experience.

Graphite powder pricing is a very opaque market protected by confidential supply or technical agreements whereas most published end-use pricing information is dominated by Chinese suppliers or traders.

Whiteley’s skills in this area will be welcomed by the company.

Through his company Lone Star Tech Minerals USA (LSTM), Whiteley will provide GCM with greater price clarity around a range of traditional and advanced graphite products and end-use markets/applications, helping GCM to choose the most technical and commercially economic end-use applications for the McIntosh flake with a specific focus on nuclear, semiconductor, aerospace and Li-Ion batteries applications including SPG conductive additive grades.

Ongoing recruitment

Whiteley is one of several upcoming appointments, with GCM in the advanced stages of a recruitment process, identifying several candidates across the company.

Appointments will be announced in the near future as GCM continues its transformation in building a highly motivated and qualified team around the ultra-high purity/high-quality McIntosh Flake Graphite Project.
