BP PLC (LSE:BP.) and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LSE:MKS) have announced a deal that will see 900 charging points for electric vehicles (EVs) installed across 70 UK sites over the next two years.
BP added that the deal was part of its ambitions to invest approximately £1bn in UK EV charging infrastructure by 2030, as it unveiled the plan.
“EV charging is the latest feature to ensure we have a store estate fit for the future, to help our customers live lower carbon lives,” said M&S’ director of operations Sacha Berendji.
Akira Kirton, chief executive of BP Pulse - the oil giant’s EV charging business - added: “This is exactly the kind of collaboration the UK needs to help accelerate the transition to lower carbon transport and we’re delighted to be working with M&S to make that happen.”
The two companies added that once the rollout of the charging points was finished, further plans could be made to grow the network.
