HighGold Mining says latest drill results from DC prospect at Johnson Tract underscore property's district-scale potential

HighGold Mining Inc (TSX-V:HIGH, OTCQX:HGGOF) has reported more encouraging drill results from the Difficult Creek prospect (DC) at the company's Johnson Tract (JT) project, which underscore the district-scale potential of the Alaska property.

The assays hail from the third and final batch from this year's drilling at its new Ellis Zone discovery at the DC prospect, which was focused on stepping out along strike and at depth.

The latest drilling has returned strong mineralization west and down-plunge, noted HighGold, with highlight assays including a length of 15.5 metres (m) starting from 71.3m depth in one hole, which hit 4.04 grams per ton (g/t) gold-equivalent, including 2.99 g/t gold, 6.4 g/t silver and 1.49% zinc.

"The 2022 drill program at the Ellis Zone was very successful in sketching-in a new center of high-grade gold and base metal mineralization with similar characteristics to the main +1Moz JT Deposit located 4km away," said Darwin Green, HighGold's CEO in a statement.

"This is strong validation of the district potential for multiple deposits and the opportunity to contribute additional mineral resources to the existing resource base," he added.

The DC prospect lies four kilometers (km) northeast of the JT deposit and is characterized by a series of large gossan alteration zones similar in style to the JT deposit that collectively extends over an area spanning 1.5km x 3km.

So far, the Ellis Zone at DC has been documented over a strike length of 125m and from surface to a depth of 225m and is open to expansion, noted Green.

"It remains early days in the exploration of this promising new zone, and we look forward to returning in 2023 with larger step-outs, particularly down plunge to the west and to depth," he added.

Other drill highlights from the latest set of results included 3.6m in one hole, starting from 76.4m depth, at 5.92 g/t gold-equivalent, which included an intercept of 1.5m at 9.83 g/t of gold-equivalent.

In all, 43 holes for 6,056.4m were completed at the Difficult Creek prospect, including 39 holes at the Ellis Zone and five at other nearby targets.

HighGold is focused on high-grade gold projects located in North America. The flagship is its Johnson Tract gold project in Alaska, which spans 21,000 acres and includes the high-grade JT deposit and at least nine other prospects over a 12km strike length.

The JT deposit hosts an indicated resource of 3.489 million tonnes grading 9.39 g/t gold-equivalent, while the inferred category boasts 0.706 million tonnes grading 4.76 g/t gold-equivalent.

HighGold also controls one of the largest junior gold miner land positions in the Timmins camp in Ontario and has a 100% ownership of a group of properties in Yukon’s emerging new Selwyn Basin Reduced Intrusive Related Gold district.
