Synertec Corporation Ltd (ASX:SOP) has successfully integrated with Santos Limited’s production and operating systems in Australia, supplying 100% of power, emissions-free, through its proprietary Powerhouse technology.
Essentially a microgrid engineered to provide base load distributed power, Synertec describes the Powerhouse as “rapidly deployable and portable” with “no requirements for fossil-fuel standby generation”.
With a successful 'cutover', Synertec’s Powerhouse is supplying 100% of power to a remote cluster of eight gas wells spread across about 10 square kilometres in remote central Queensland, replacing an existing bank of fossil fuel generators.
The company believes its Powerhouse technology offers a dual benefit in this particular instance, not only reducing fossil fuel consumption but also replacing and redirecting gas supply back into the gas network.
This commercial-scale field trial is the last stage of testing for the Powerhouse unit, a trial Synertex expects to result in a long-term commercial contract, although discussions continue – a decision is expected to be made by the second half of the 2023 financial year.

“The commencement of the field trial is a major milestone for the technology and our company,” Synertec Corporation managing director Michael Carroll said.
“The extensive FAT and SAT program provided positive operational performance and extensive data that has significantly de-risked the field trial cutover exercise for both parties and signals the successful deployment of Powerhouse in a commercial setting.
“We see a significant local and global addressable market for our Powerhouse technology where remote locations operating industrial equipment can benefit from portable, stable base load renewable power supply.
“As the world continues to transition to a carbon-free future, technologies such as Powerhouse will allow our customers to achieve their decarbonisation goals.”
Synertec will now advance plans for commercial scale production of Powerhouse units, with component suppliers committing to key supply chain performance criteria that will help de-risk production.
