Touchstone Exploration said it had raised more than expected from private placings in Canada and the UK.
Together, the two funding rounds pulled in a total of £11mln compared to its higher-end estimate of around £10.6mln.
Canadian investors subscribed £4.8mln and UK shareholders the remainder, said the oil group, with the money earmarked for ramping up its operations in Trinidad.
Paul Baay, chief executive, added: "I am pleased to confirm the completion of our fundraising, with strong support from both existing and new shareholders.
“The fundraise allows us to accelerate our exploration and development program on the Ortoire block, which has yielded excellent results to date.”
Shares were issued at 54.5p and the Canadian equivalent.
