SinglePoint lauds federal $500M grant program to make energy improvements in school

SinglePoint Inc has announced its support for the US Department of Energy’s Renew America's Schools grant program initiative, of which the agency recently launched the first round of funding.

The $500 million grant is designed to help impoverished and rural school districts across the nation make energy improvements to school facilities. That will save costs and create healthier academic environments for students, the company said. The first round includes $80 million, according to a statement.

Specifically, funds will be used to convert to renewable energy sources such as solar, replace internal combustion engine buses with electric vehicles and implement upgrades to HVAC systems and filtration to improve efficiency and indoor air quality.

SinglePoint CEO Wil Ralston lauded the investment in “historically underfunded” public schools, and said the company can play an important role in the implementation of clean technology.

“We have positioned ourselves to help our school-based clients apply for and receive these funds and put them to use effectively and meaningfully,” Ralston said. “As we transition to the 'electrification of everything,' solar will continue and is the most important and cost-effective way to support the need for new electrical generation.”

He continued, “Schools are a major opportunity for solar as energy is usually one of the highest expenses. They typically have a large footprint for solar installations to offset their energy costs. As electric vehicles become more prominent, charging at school will be necessary. Offering a full solution makes it easier for our clients to manage and coordinate projects of this scale."

SinglePoint is a sustainable lifestyle company in the solar energy and air purification markets.
