‘Innovative’ Plastics Capital a “sound” investment Niche plastics group Plastics Capital Plc (LON:PLA) is a “sound” investment according to Capital Network’s analyst Andy Brown.

Brown praises the company’s balance sheet and he’s also fond of the management team, too.

He likes the fact that Plastics Capital is coming up with new ideas to try and rock a mature, long-established industry.

Advanced nanomaterials will drive Haydale Graphene Industries PLC forward says boss “The building blocks are in place it’s all about commercialisation now.”
So says Haydale Graphene Industries’ chief executive Ray Gibbs.
Adding nanomaterials to existing materials to enhance their performance is Haydale’s skill.
Graphene, as the company’s name implies is one of these materials, but recently it added silicon carbide whiskers (think carbon brake pads and saucepan linings) capability in the US and a Thailand-based printing inks specialist.
Investors clearly see the potential as a recent open offer was over three times oversubscribed.

Haydale acquisition of US-based ACMC to add significant value Ray Gibbs, chief executive of Haydale Graphene Industries PLC (LON:HAYD), says the acquisition of ACMC is the “final piece of the jigsaw for our geographic expansion.”

With a presence now in the US, UK, Germany and South East Asia, Haydale is gathering momentum in its evolution from research and development into a composite materials sales pipeline.

The US is a ‘massive, massive market’ for Haydale and Gibbs quantifies just how big. “We estimate it’s probably worth about 40% of the marketplace for us today.” It’s all about synergy and already there’s been one announced cross-selling opportunity with a Korean company for their silicon carbide scratch resistant teflon coating.

The deal has been funded by a successful £2.1mln placing with existing shareholders and an open offer for retail investors.

Haydale says the market, which is primarily in car-making, could be worth more than US$30bn by 2022.
Chief executive Ray Gibbs said its product offers the potential for faster processing, better performance and higher quality.
"We think all of this will mean the industry is growing exponentially and will want to take on this material," he said.

“Better year than it seems” says Plastics Capital CEO Faisal Rahmatallah chief executive of Plastics Capital (LON:PLA) said the year was better than it seemed, and that despite weakening profits in some areas, the recent acquisition was progressing well.

“Although headline EPS was flat, that conceals a lot of good things that’s going on,” he tells Proactive Investors.

He said the niche plastics maker was busy investing into the future, and investors could expect to see the payoff in the next 12 to 18 months.

“Brexit could affect our UK business, but we’re not too worried as we’re not too exposed to the UK market,” says Rahmatallah.

“What we try to do to manage the uncertainty in the world is we don’t over-commit to one particular area,”

He said investors should look out for further acquisitions, capacity expansion and some new product ideas.

“We will be placing our money in various different investments. We’re thinking of spending in the region of £2mln to £4mln over the next year in around half a dozen to a dozen investment opportunities,” says Rahmatallah.

He adds: “We like the way [Dowton] do business. Dowton move rapidly. We are all about commercialising graphene as quickly as we can because the marketplace needs to expand. The speed and quality they operate in are first class.”
