Copper tailings project excites on a number of fronts, says Jubilee Platinum boss Chief executive of Jubilee Platinum (LON:JLP) Leon Coetzer walks us through the rationale behind securing  a surface copper tailings project in Australia.
He said it met a number of the firm's criteria. Fiirstly, that it was a surface project, secondly that it required metallurgical expertise to unlock the copper, that the capital entry level was quite low and that the the timeline between starting investing and earning from the property  was quite short.
"We found this project, which excited us on a number of fronts," he said.

China deal a 'one-step turnkey' contract to develop Russian mine, says Eurasia boss Russia-focused junior miner Eurasia Mining plc (LON:EUA) unveiled a massive deal with Chinese major Sinosteel to develop its Monchetundra platinum project. The contract is for the development of two platinum deposits and a beneficiation plant.

Managing director Christian Schaffalitzky tells Proactive: “Those people who follow the mining business will know we've been having a really rough time since the crash of metal prices in 2008. Normally we would do one of two things - we would raise funds to do our development work with equity capital, however the mining funds are no longer present or are much more diminished. The second way would be in joint venture with a major mining company but unfortunately they got too over-leveraged and so have been very inactive in the sector. So those of us who take risks to develop new deposits have been left on our own.”

“This new contract is basically a loan package and EPC contract, so a turnkey operation to develop the mine and plant to extract platinum group metals, precious metals and base metals from the deposits we've been exploring.

“It's basically a one-step turnkey contract with financing already conceptually in place for when we get the go-ahead from the Russian government to develop the mine,” Schaffalitzky added.

Sinosteel will construct and commission the mine with the contract in total worth US$176mln.

Jubilee Platinum PLC boss "very delighted" with Dilokong project progress Leon Coetzer, chief executive at Jubilee Platinum PLC (LON:JLP), said the firm was "very delighted" with progress at the Dilokong chrome mine (DCM) project in South Africa.
The firm  is processing surface tailings dumps there to produce chromite concentrate.
And it's going well. Production climbed to 9,670 tons in July, which was up 29% month-on-month, while revenue from the sale of concentrate was 33% higher than in June at £692,000.
Coetzer put the performance down to the fact the group had total control of all surface operations at Dilokong, which means it is operating both it and ASA Metals' processing unit at full capacity.
Moreover, the group is also in "advanced" discussions to bring in third party material, which will allow it to access a third processing facility on site, which Coetzer hopes will start within the next quarter, he says

Eurasia Mining looking forward to producing first platinum within weeks Eurasia Mining plc (LON:EUA) Managing Director Christian Schaffalitzky tells Proactive Investors that he can meet the terms of a new refining contract for its West Kytlim alluvial platinum project, producing 80 to 100 tonnes of platinum as the first phase of development. “It is not very difficult, we have been working for the last six weeks on setting up the mine and we should start production in the next few weeks, by mid-August” he says.

Schaffalitzky says that mine will eventually be a ten year project and that Eurasia is working with a local civil engineering group who will provide all the equipment and invest the development capital. “They do it at their cost, and Eurasia in return receives 30% of the revenue and the contractor receives 70%. Our job is to monitor the mining, make sure the reserves are mined correctly and to reconcile the production against the actual platinum produced” he says.

Jubilee Platinum chief says revenues at Hernic take project to next level Jubilee Platinum PLC (LON:JLP) says the revenues for its flagship Hernic PGM project are extremely significant and is progressing on schedule.
Chief executive Leon Coetzer says numbers are in line with expectations and will take the company into a very strong position.
Commissioning of what will be the world's largest platinum recovery plant from chrome tailings is earmarked to begin in December this year.
Elsewhere the group revealed a doubling of chrome concentrate production from its Dilokong tailings project (DCM) in the latest half year.
Coetzer says discussion are to conclude within the next 4-5 weeks when the group will decide whether or not build its own processing plant at the site.

Eurasia Mining MD happy with Semenovsky progress An external assessment of the Semensovsky tailings project in Russia has confirmed the grades, Eurasia Mining plc's (LON:EUA) managing director told Proactive.

Independent verification was important said Christian Schaffalitsky as it moves on to the next stages of cyanide and recovery testing and a reserves report.

If they go to plan, Eurasia, and partner Metal Tiger, will devise an optimisation plan that may see construction get underway as early as next year, permits allowing, he says.

Eurasia Mining “has its skates on” at West Kytlim, says MD Christian Schaffalitzky, managing director of Eurasia Mining plc (LON:EUA) says the company has “got its skates on” after it farmed out the mining of its West Kytlim alluvial platinum deposit in the Urals to local Russian firm SKRS.

SKRS will be responsible for construction and processing ore from the Malaya Sosnovka sub-area at West Kytlim in return for a 70% share of revenue.

The MD says the company has wanted to start mining in West Kytlim “for some time” but was unwilling to raise equity.

He adds Eurasia was “very fortunate” it had a number of options with contractors and now believes the company has “broken the dam that was holding back a lot of work that has been running concurrently and now we are starting to see the results of all of that”.

Kola Peninsula has important PGM prospect - Eurasia Mining chief Christian Schaffalitzky, managing director and chief executive of Eurasia Mining Plc (LON:EUA), says the Kola peninsula “holds out the prospect of being a very important platinum group metal producing area in the future .  Eurasia has a good presence in the Kola region and has a project that’s capable of doing that.”
The boss of the PGM exploration and development company spoke to Proactive after announcing positive drill results from its Monchetundra project in the far northwest of Russia, which should lead to defining a reserve estimate.
Next steps include producing a resource estimate and further work on metallurgy, hydro-geological and environmental considerations which are all designed to produce a pre-feasibility study for governmental reporting.

Eurasia MD says gold tailings project good value Eurasia Mining (LON:EUA) managing director Christian Schaffalitzsky tells Proactive Investors the main problem during the minerals boom in the early 2000s was that project costs were too high, especially in Russia, but now there are ideal opportunities for companies the size of Eurasia. "Now with the recession in mining, projects have become available which are far more attractive price-wise" he said.

The Russia-focused miner said on Monday it had signed a head of terms with OOO Metallurg Complect to secure the right to negotiate to buy up to 67% of the Semenovsky gold tailings project.

Schaffalitzsky said the background work needed will be completed within three to six months depending on licencing issues and the main reason the company is looking at the project is because they anticipate a good rate of return, in excess of 60%. "It means that the gold price can be weaker and still the project will go ahead and make some money for the operators" he said.

Jubilee’s processing plans protect firm from platinum price, says CEO Leon Coetzer, chief executive of Jubilee Platinum (LON:JLP), says the firm’s platinum processing operations will avoid key risk areas and become profitable, even with platinum prices at historic low levels.

“None of our projects are true mining,” says Coetzer. “We’re focusing on the materials which have been mined.

"That means we avoid labour challenges, major fundraising challenges and the weaker platinum price."

Jubilee recently sold its smelting and power generating operations in South Africa.

Now the firm is focused on bringing its platinum tailings projects at ASA’s Dickong chrome mine and with chrome group Hernic on stream. The ASA project could be up and running in nine months times.

Eurasia Mining and Metal Tiger pleased with platinum project progress Christian Schaffalitzky, chief executive of Eurasia Mining (LON:EUA) and Metal Tiger’s (LON:MTR) Paul Johnson discuss the Russian-focused miners’ progress at West Kytkim and steps towards first platinum production in 2016.

Recent work at the Urals-located deposit has included mine technical design planning, forestry applications and additional exploration to enhance and expand the mine ore feed.

Metal Tiger has already invested close to £500,000 in Eurasia and Johnson says it’s possible that further investments may follow.

Away from West Kytlim, Eurasia is also developing another deposit – Monchetundra - on the Kola peninsula.

Eurasia Mining MD: Monchetundra could be company maker The managing director of Eurasia Mining (LON:EUA), Christian Schaffalitzky, says that the firm’s Monchetundra platinum deposit could be a company maker if drilling proves successful.

Work is underway to add reserves and resources to Monchetundra as part of a mining licence application. Exploration here will focus on the West Nittis area, where near-surface high-grade platinum and palladium was discovered in previous drilling.

The site is located in the sparsely populated Murmansk region, which borders Finland and Norway in the far Northwest of Russia.

To fund Monchetundra’s development, Eurasia is in discussion with third parties and Schaffalitzky says there has been considerable interest in the project in recent months.

Eurasia Mining CEO hails West Kytlim approval The CEO of Eurasia Mining (LON:EUA), Christian Schaffalitzky, explains how a more streamlined licence application process in Russia has come at just the right time for the company.

Earlier today, Eurasia told investors that Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev had approved an application for a mining licence for its West Kytlim project.

The decision follows a similar approval for Amur Minerals (LON:AMC) last month.

“Gradually, Russia is modernising a system which previously suited the Soviet system with a lot of centralised control, to a one where they rely on private enterprise to develop the mineral resource in the country,” said Schaffalitzky.

Eurasia Mining chief on mining licence progress Christian Schaffalitzky, the chief executive of Eurasia Mining (LON:EUA), talks Proactive Investors through the process of obtaining a mining licence for the West Kytlim alluvial platinum mining project in Russia.

He says the government is supportive of foreign investment and points out that the amount it is raising to reach production is far smaller than most miners are searching for, which means it can achieve cash flow sooner.

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development now has 30 days to respond to the draft terms and conditions.
