Corporate Housekeeping move for Falcon Media House Internet media group Falcon Media House Digital PLC (LON:FAL) has bought for £8, and then cancelled, the Founder Share in the business which allowed its owner the right to appoint and remove directors from the business, providing a layer of protection that is now not required.

Chief Executive Gert Rieder tells us “Following on from the recent purchase of the Quiptel Group and the re-admission of the enlarged group to trading on the London Stock Exchange, the board and the founder have agreed that this protection mechanism is no longer required."

The move is described by Gert as essentially, a bit of 'corporate housekeeping or cleaning up'.

“As the group works hard to develop its operations it follows that the shareholder base will also develop and the board believes that the acquisition and subsequent cancellation of the Founder Share marks an important milestone in this process."

VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund reveals secrets of how it significantly outperforms the Vietnamese market Andy Ho, chief executive (CEO) of VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund (LON:TMP1), extols the virtues of investing in Vietnam.
“Vietnam’s been very fortunate. It’s GDP’s been growing about six to six-and-a-half per cent per annum,” Ho explained.
The Vietnam Opportunity Fund (VOF) has outperformed the Vietnam benchmark index quite significantly, with a 30% increase in net asset value per share over the last year.
The fund is able to secure large positions in private companies and uses its experience to help those companies grow.
“Our strategy is to find businesses that are growing; we’re not here to restructure a business, or anything like that. We invest in growth capital,” Ho explains, adding that the usual form is to spend two to four years preparing the company to go public or, in some cases, buffing it up to a state where it gets bought by a competitor.
The fund’s selection process has not changed down the years though as the size of the fund has grown, the range of companies it can consider investing in has expanded.
Vinacapital recently moved from Aim to the main market to boost its appeal to retail investors and to increase its chances of being included in stock market indices, which would see the stock being picked up by the relevant index-tracking funds.
“We’re beginning to see some of this [expected] impact on the fund,” Ho said.

iAnthus targeting educated investor community in Canada iAnthus Capital (CNSX:IAN), listing today on the CSE, is no ordinary investment company. It intends to provide financing and management services to US-licensed cannabis cultivators and, as chief executive officer Hadley Ford explains, it specifically chose Canada as a country in which to list because it is unique among capital markets in its understanding of iAnthus’s model.
“You go where the money is,” Ford states. On the subject of money, Wall Street “is on the sideline” when it comes to investing in cannabis cultivators, so iAnthus will offer the retail investor to get his or her foot in the door ahead of the fund managers.

Volvere chief hails great 2015; focused on raising assets per share Jonathan Lander, chief executive of investment and turnaround specialist Volvere PLC (LON:VLE) says the company had a “great year” in 2015.

He says the firm focuses on the growth of its assets, rather than the profit and revenue figures adding that “the net assets per share are £5.69, and when we started in 2002 it was about 94p a share, so you’re nearly six times your money.”

He tells Proactive Investors: “2015 was great because we sold JNP which boosted out net assets per share by about 34% that year and you can’t complain about that.”

Volvere saw profits rise in 2015 as the company was boosted by a record performance by pie-maker Shire Foods. Pre-tax profit from continuing operations was £1.34mln, up from £1.2mln the year before, on revenues of £27.9mln more than double the £12.4mln in 2014.
