At the time of writing, shares were down 2.84% at US$44.89 and also fell in pre-market.

Speaking in New York, the group's chairman and  chief executive Lowell McAdam said: "While well-positioned for the future, Verizon's full-year 2016 earnings may plateau at 2015 levels as the company manages near-term impacts.

"These impacts include the commercial model change in wireless, year-over-year wireline financial comparisons following the expected first-half 2016 sale of operations to Frontier Communications Corp., and the ramp up of new business models for wireless video and IoT."

Put simply, the company boss was speaking about consumer demand disrupting the group's traditional models.

Nevertheless, he added that he saw "significant" opportunity for future growth in video and the Internet of Things (IoT), enabled by the company's consistent investment and demonstrated leadership in wireless and broadband networks.

Satellite Solutions Worldwide set as classic consolidation play Thu, 17 Sep 2015 08:37:00 +0100 Satellite Solutions sees 2017 as "massive opportunity" for organic growth and acquisitions Simon Clifton, chief technology officer at rural broadband specialist Satellite Solutions (LON:SAT), discusses its latest acquisition in France and a new commercial contract with SES Techcom Services with Proactive Investors.

"Satellite capacity is a buyer's market and it works not dissimilar to other commodity markets in Europe. The larger you are, the more you combine, therefore the better the price you can get," he points out. "This is just one milestone really."

With regards to the acquisition of Viveole, he remarks that it "adds more to the scale and therefore the purchasing power of the company."

"We see 2017 as a massive opportunity for both organic growth and acquisition," he adds.

Satellite Solutions 'has been transformed' says chief Andrew Walwyn ''The business has been transformed'' says Andrew Walwyn, chief executive of Satellite Solutions Worldwide Group PLC (LON:SAT).

''We've gone from, at the end of last year, having 25,000 customers to north of 75,000 customers. These businesses [the acquisitions] , three of them were the same size as the original core business we acquired.''

Walwyn says: ''We have been quiet for the last three months - we've just had our head down, making sure they're integrated and delivering what we knew they could deliver''.

Asked if they're on track to hit the magical 100,000 customer target they've set themselves by the end of the 2017 financial period, Walwyn says: ''We certainly are. When we came to the market 18 months ago we put that number down, we've still got another 12 months to go and we're closing in very fast on that''.

Satellite Solutions firmly in top spot after Avonline deal Satellite Solutions Worldwide Group PLC’s (LON:SAT) acquisition of UK peer Avonline catapults into the number one spot for satellite broadband in the UK.

But its ambitions are much greater than that says Andrew Walwyn, chief executive.

Following this deal, SSW will have around 35,000 users across Europe but with the aim to have 100,000 customers by the end of 2017 more deals are a certainty.

The core business is now self-funding, so a £12mln investment from the Business Growth Fund gives it plenty of firepower to achieve its target.

Recognition from all sides that the only way remote users will get high speed broadband is through satellite access will also be a driver, says Walwyn.
