New York observation wheel 'coming along greatly' says Challenger Acquisitions Limited CEO Giant observation wheel investor Challenger Acquisitions Limited (LON:CHAL) has said its New York wheel project is making “fantastic” progress and is on schedule to open in April 2018.

Chief executive Mark Gustafson tells Proactive: ''I was just there on a tour the other week. It's really fascinating to see  the developments.''

''Basically, the entire ground work is complete. What we're going to see over the next 18 months is everything being constructed from the ground up and that will include the terminal building and all the major components for the giant observation wheel starting with these four massive legs'', Gustafson added.

Once finished, the New York wheel will be around 50% bigger than the London Eye and it is hoped it will be able to carry around 3.5 mln passengers each year.

Challenger Acquisitions Limited’s Gustafson sees Asia as ‘significant’ Mark Gustafson, chief executive of Challenger Acquisitions Ltd (LON:CHAL), views Asia as a hot spot for the business that manages the development of and invests in giant observation wheels such as the London Eye. Challenger is opening an office in Singapore to create a presence and capitalise on the growth of the region where there “should be multiple wheels over the next five to ten years.”

Challenger Acquisitions boss: Jakarta Big Wheel financing in final stages Mark Gustafson, CEO of Challenger Acquisitions (LON:CHAL) tells Proactive Investors that securing the land site in Jakarta for a giant observation wheel like the London Eye, was one of the two remaining hurdles for this project. "It is all about location and about having the tourist traffic, both domestic and international and this site helps on both those fronts" he said.

Gustafson said the second hurdle, in the hands of the developers, is financing. "Now that the land has been secured, that was one of the primary conditions for the bank financing to proceed. Now that is in the final stages" he said.

Wheels back in motion for Challenger Acquisitions as shares start trading again Proactive catches up with Mark Gustafson, chairman of Challenger Acquisitions (LON:CHAL), as shares in the giant observation wheel investment firm began trading again earlier this morning after a six month suspension period.

An investment into the New York wheel and engineering firm Starneth meant Challenger had to compile a prospectus ahead of relisting stock in the enlarged company.

Challenger Acquisitions' Gustafson forsakes oil & gas for Big Wheels Challenger Acquisitions (LON:CHAL) chairman, Mark Gustafson, has spent much of his working life raising finance for oil and gas projects. Now as he  tells Proactiveinvestors, he is shifting his attention to the 'attractions' sector.

His recently launched investment vehicle has just signed a co-operation deal with Starneth, the company behind the hugely successful London Eye ferris wheel. The company is also developing new giant observation wheels in Dubai and New York.

The agreement  gives Challenger extra reach into a sector which Gustafson describes a “hugely popular”. His ultimate game plan is to become a majority stake in big wheels throughout the world.

“It’s also way more recession-proof than investing resources,” he claims.
