The secure payments specialist swung to a first-half profit as growth in its US operations boosted revenue.

The company posted profit before tax of £1.5mln for the period compared to a loss of £0.2mln in the same period a year ago.

The US secure business won seven contracts in the first half worth a total value of US$5.1mln, compared to three contracts last year worth US$2.7mln.

Haydale Graphene 'on track' with an increased focus on commercialisation Ray Gibbs, chief executive of Haydale Graphene Industries PLC (LON:HAYD), dropped into the Proactive Investors studio for a catch up following the announcement that they've filed a new patent application in the UK for their anti-counterfeiting technology.

The tech uses proprietary software codes and a specialty graphene-based, transparent conductive ink.

Feedback advancing clinical use of TexRAD after bagging CE mark Alastair Riddell, chairman of Feedback plc (LON:FDBK) tells Proactive they're now able to crack on with expanding the clinical use of  TexRAD in the treatment of lung cancer across the EU after finally receiving a CE mark for the technology earlier this week.

Bango Plc's Ray Anderson sees big opportunities to grow African footprint Ray Anderson, chief executive of Bango plc (LON:BGO), caught up with Proactive after a busy few weeks travelling around India and Africa.

Bango's platform is now being used by Nigerian mobile network operator 9mobile to enable purchases through Google Play.

Through the 9mobile 9pay wallet, customers in Nigeria can pay for media, games, apps and digital content in Google Play with one-click, without the need to own a credit card or bank account.

Anderson adds they've also partnered with a company called Victory Link in Egypt which will allow Bango app store and merchant partners to launch carrier billing across all three Egyptian mobile operators.

Mining Capital's Alastair Ford expecting improvement in business climate in Zimbabwe Mining Capital's Alastair Ford reflects on Zimbabwe's 'political earthquake' which has seen the resignation of the country's former President Robert Mugabe.

In the weeks and months ahead Ford reckons it'll be an interesting period.

''This new President [Emmerson Mnangagwa]  is very much an old hand at Zimbabwean politics and was very much involved in the politics we've seen play out over the past couple of decades''.

''I think his vested interests will be in keeping things much as they are  ... he'll be looking to open up the country in terms of bringing in new investment''.

''Journalists too were invited into Zimbabwe in a way  that we've not seen for many years following the departure of Mr Mugabe''.

Rainbow Rare Earths confirms significant exploration potential at Gakara Martin Eales, chief executive of Rainbow Rare Earths Ltd. (LON:RBW), tells Proactive they've recently wrapped up an airborne magnetic survey which has suggested there are at least four large carbonatite anomalies at the Gakara project in Burundi.

Eales says the discovery gives the project significant exploration upside potential.

In their announcement today Rainbow also reaffirmed that first production and sales of rare earth concentrate are on schedule for the fourth quarter of 2017.

Premier African's oversubscribed placing 'a reflection of the quality of Zulu' George Roach, chief executive of Premier African Minerals Limited (LON:PREM), tells Proactive's Andrew Scott the value attributed to their Zulu lithium project in Zimbabwe was higher than expected in a scoping study.

Consultant Bara worked on two options at Zulu: just to produce a concentrate; or for Premier to build its own lithium production plant.

Bara estimated a value of US$127mln for a 15-year open cast operation mining a concentrate of spodumene and petalite, the source ores for lithium.

A funding to raise working capital to pay for the scoping study and further exploration was heavily oversubscribed, with Premier pulling in £1mln at 0.4p compared to an original target of £500,000

Shanta Gold publishes first resource for Singida Eric Zurrin, chief executive at Shanta Gold (LON:SHG), runs Proactive through their first official resource at Singida - one of the miners two main deposits in Tanzania.

The junior operates the New Luika mine but Singida, in the centre of the country, is at a much earlier stage of development.

The Australian standard JORC resource of 728,000oz stems from 12.3mt at a grade of 1.84 g/t. The cut-off grade was 1.0 g/t.

Added to the resources already identified at New Luika, Shanta now has 2mln ounces of gold delineated in Tanzania.

Commissioning well underway at Savannah Resources' Mutamba pilot plant David Archer, chief executive of Savannah Resources Plc (LON:SAV), says he's delighted the pilot plant construction at Mutamba in Mozambique is now complete and that commissioning is well underway in anticipation of an official opening next month.

SDX Energy's KSR-14 well alone sufficient to meet local demand, says CEO Paul Welch Paul Welch, chief executive of SDX Energy Plc (LON:SDX), tells Proactive the ongoing development drilling programme in Morocco is continuing to deliver results ahead of expectations.

Welch says the KSR-14 well has measured an average production rate of 6.4mln cubic feet of gas per day during testing and will remain on production for an extended period.

Metal Tiger takes aim at Australian miner Kingsgate Consolidated Michael McNeilly, chief executive of Metal Tiger plc (LON:MTR), tells Proactive he's called for a meeting to replace all but one of the directors at Kingsgate Consolidated.

McNeilly says the incumbent board has overseen a massive destruction of shareholder value and failed to articulate a clear strategy going forward.

Tlamino looking very healthy as Medgold firms up 3D mineralisation Dan James, president of Medgold Resources Corp (CVE:MED), tells Proactive recent sampling results at the Tlamino project in Serbia have shown mineralization isn't limited to the outcrop plane but extends into the hillside.

The firm has released a composite channel sample of 52 metres at 2.20 g/t (grams per ton) gold and 88 g/t silver from a recently reopened historical lead-zinc exploration adit, in the centre of the main Barje occurrence.

The adit was excavated by a Yugoslav state company in the 1950s as part of their regional exploration for lead, zinc mineralization.

US companies set the benchmark for Motif Bio Graham Lumsden, chief executive of Motif Bio Plc (LON:MTFB,NASDAQ:MTFB) caught up with Proactive as the company announced they'd secured US$20mln of non-dilutive financing to provide it with enough cash to see them through to the anticipated launch of its next-generation antibiotic in 2019.

Lumsden says as part of the arrangement they've already drawn down US$15mln of the facility, provided by Hercules Capital Inc. (NYSE:HTGC), a specialist in debt packages for life sciences firms.

Motif's come a long way since listing on AIM back in April 2015 - they've manufactured clinical trial supplies of its lead drug, iclaprim, completed two successful phase III clinical trials on the next-generation antibiotic and, crucially, raised US$110mln.
