Company Statement:
Dart's mission is to create value for shareholders and key stakeholders by developing coal bed methane resources around the world that are capable of rapid commercialisation. Coal bed methane offers a clean, safe, and cost-effective energy solution for an increasingly energy constrained world. To do this, Dart Energy is currently progressing an extensive exploration programme of activities on its existing portfolio of tenements with a view to achieving reserves certification, production and gas sales. Dart's business strategy is focused on:
- Accessing opportunities in geographies characterised by low cost of entry, proximity to high demand growth gas markets and high prices. Such opportunities must be capable of being leveraged by Dart's core skills and experience either as an early entrant or through Dart's technical expertise;
- Progressing exploration activities swiftly into pilot / appraisal stage and achieving near-term proof-of-concept for initial commercial exploitation, early cashflow and margin demonstration;
- Maturing resources and delivering reserve certifications and rapid reserves growth while establishing technical and commercial viability;
- Adding tenements of strategic significance and value while continuously optimising the portfolio for efficient captial allocation;
- Maintaining partnerships and relationships with national and local authorities and companies and the surrounding communities;
- In the longer term, developing and maintaing a balanced portfolio of assets at different stages across the project life-cycle - exploration, appraisal, initial development and production.
Dart Energy has assembled a strong board and executive team who are recognised as leaders in the coal bed methane industry. Many of Dart's board and executive team were the founders and leaders of Arrow Energy, one of the great CBM success stories of the past decade. Dart's management is able to blend skills and experience in conventional gas, petroleum, electricity generation, government, energy policy development, resource development, law, commerce and corporate finance. The company benefits from long standing partnerships and relationships with national and local authorities, leading State and private enterprises and major operators in each of our host countries.
Current Operations:
Australia
Australia is the world's ninth largest energy producer accounting for around 2.4 percent of global energy production with natural gas becoming an increasingly important source of domestic and export energy.
Following the demerger from Arrow Energy, Dart Energy re-entered the Australia CBM industry through the acquisition of Apollo gas, an ASX listed CBM company with a portfolio of 7 CBM blocks and 2 geothermal licences, all located in New South Wales.
In August 2009, Arrow Energy acquired a strategic shareholding stake in Apollo Gas Limited, together with the rights to farm-in to two of the company's coal bed methane tenements in New South Wales. The shareholding stake and farm-in rights were subsequently transferred to Dart Energy as part of the demerger from Arrow Energy. In September 2010, Dart Energy acquired the remaining securities in Apollo Gas, and the company has been rebranded Dart Australia.
Dart Energy's strategic theme for Australia:
- Leverage the current portfolio to build a geographically large footprint and rapidly prove up reserves ahead of bringing projects into commercial production while exploiting advantaged pricing in New South Wales.

China
Natural gas is China's fastest growing major energy source. There is a large potential for growth in China gas consumption as it services rapidly growing power, city gas and industrial sector demand.
China presents a significant opportunity for Dart Energy with strong expected growth in gas demand, established supporting infrastructure and attractive netback gas pricing.
Dart Energy's strategic theme for China:
- Dart Energy has conducted extensive market studies of all the key CBM basins in China and is focusing its exploration activities on two key areas: Xinjiang Autonmous Region in western China and Shanxi and Shaanxi Provinces in central China.
- Focus on securing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with local oil, gas and coal companies, in particular state-owned enterprises, which can deliver in-country expertise and assist with access to tenements.
- Take a multi-tiered approach by seeking greenfield CBM development via PSC particpation, farming in to existing CBM projects and establishing coal mine methane / degassing projects.

- Take a multi-tiered approach by seeking greenfield CBM development via direct licence particpation, farming-in to existing CBM projects and establising coal mine methane/degassing projects.
- Leverage upon a foundation of strong government relations developed by providing high levels of technical imput to the government regulators and domestic companies.

- Focus on two specific regions of Indonesia with attractive technical and business characteristics for CBM (South Sumatra and eastern Kalimantan).
- Pursue an LNG-focused strategy in eastern Kalimantan given the likely buyer of gas in that region will be the Bontang LNG Plant.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with major oil, gas and coal companies which can deliver in-country expertise and assist with access to tenements.
- Pursue a long-term strategy to be an industry consolidator given the relatively high number of smaller CBM blocks awarded and the widely dispersed current ownership of those blocks.
