West Australia Metals receives encouraging preliminary results from Phillipus Uranium Prospect
West Australian Metals (ASX:WME) has received encouraging preliminary drilling results from the Phillipus prospect at its 80%-owned Marenica uranium project in Namibia.
Phillipus is located 4.5 km north of the company’s Marenica palaeochannel resource and is the first regional exploration target to be tested for primary uranium mineralisation.
Initial probe results indicate a continuous mineralised horizon at Phillipus and, according to the Perth-based company, reinforce the potential to define primary uranium mineralisation at Phillipus and other regional prospects within the Marenica project area.
Drilling is now underway at the Springbok prospect, 2.5 km north west of Phillipus.
Meantime, probing of historical holes drilled by Gold Fields of South Africa continues to upgrade the Marenica palaeochannel resource, with a further infill RC drilling program planned to follow up anomalies from extensional and infill drilling on the western margin of the resource.
Marenica currently hosts an inferred resource of 111 million tonnes grading 140 ppm U3O8 equivalent for a contained 17,000 tonnes or 34 million pounds of U3O8.
