Marenica Energy's (ASX: MEY) strategy is to focus on the evaluation of the Marenica Project as well as to identify and acquire other uranium opportunities globally.
The Company's principal asset is the Marenica Uranium Project located in the uranium rich Damara Province in Namibia. The project covers 527sq km, with high prospectivity for both secondary and primary uranium deposits.
West Australian Metals obtains further probe results from Marenica
Namibian uranium company West Australian Metals (ASX: WME) is progressing resource in-fill and extension drilling at its Marenica uranium project in Namibia, Southern Africa.
The company said the down-hole geophysical probe is continuing to provide data from approximately 750 historical drill holes at Marenica, the results of which are not included in the current resource estimate.
Significant probe results from recent work included: 11.7m @ 399ppm eU3O8 from 3.35m in M1837 and 7.2m @ 206ppm eU3O8 from 13.35m in SP2440.
Progress on the work has slowed as the down-hole probe is also being utilised on the new work and at the Phillipus Prospect.
Once all the results have been received and collated, the company said the Marenica resource will be re-calculated by SRK Consulting, with the aim of converting a large part of the existing resource to the Indicated category.
This calculation is scheduled to be completed during October due to the lag in receiving probe and assay results.
Final resource calculation will be completed in December once all results have been received.
In terms of metallurgical tesing, bulk samples collected last month from the Marenica Project have been awaiting the receipt of formal proposals from metallurgical testing facilities, both in Australia and South Africa.
The work is aimed to assess the viability of heap-leaching on sorted and unsorted ore materials.
At this stage, alkaline leaching followed by ion exchange is the preferred process route. Preliminary results on upgrading and leach work should available by December.
