Medicago in collaboration deal for influenza vaccines in Saudi Arabia and other territories
Medicago Inc (TSX-V: MDG), focused on developing vaccines based on proprietary manufacturing technologies and Virus-Like Particles (VLPs), said it has signed a letter of intent with Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk Pharmaceuticals aimed at developing, producing and commercializing Medicago's influenza VLP-based vaccines in Saudi Arabia and other territories in the Middle East and North Africa.
Tabuk is the second largest pharmaceutical manufacturer in Saudi Arabia. The parties will collaborate to identify the interest of targeted governments and will select an optimal deal structure with the objective of establishing a commercial partnership within 12 months.
"While we continue to aggressively move forward with the development of our influenza vaccine candidates, we continue to seek out commercial opportunities that allow us to exploit our proprietary manufacturing solution," said Andy Sheldon, president and CEO of Medicago.
"With the recent approval we received to commence human clinical testing with our avian flu pandemic vaccine, we are now in a better position to explore different deal structures and markets to commercialize our vaccine candidates," added the company’s VP for business development, Frederic Ors.
