Sports marketing group TLA Worldwide (LON:TLA) revealed Real Madrid FC will be participating in the International Champions Cup (ICC) tournament it is co-promoting in Australia.

The Spanish club is the first to be named as a participant in the tournament, which will take place next year, and two more of Europe’s big-name clubs are scheduled to be announced as participants in the coming weeks.

TLA has partnered with Nine Live and Relevent Sports, a division of RSE Ventures, to organise, promote and deliver for the first time the annual ICC to the Asia Pacific region from 2015 to 2018 in Australia.

The three teams in the tournament will play at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which has a capacity of 100,000, and the tournament will be broadcast live in 150 countries.

"Introducing the ICC tournament to Australia and the Asia Pacific region is a key part of TLA's strategy to diversify the sports and regions in which we do business. With the signing of Real Madrid, to be joined by a further two teams soon, this tournament is set to make a flying start to our business in the region from next year and will help drive our growth,” said Bart Campbell, chairman of TLA Worldwide.
