Alexium International Group (ASX:AJX, OTCQX:AXXIY) has been granted a trading halt by the Australian Stock Exchange with its shares placed in pre-open.

Alexium requested the halt pending details concerning a capital raise and the resultant company’s capital structure.

Earlier in the month the company hosted a site visit by influential South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham to its facilities in the U.S., showcasing its fire retardant chemistries for military fabrics and work it had done so far with the Armed Forces.

Senator Graham currently sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee, the Committee on Armed Services, the Budget Committee, and the Committee on the Judiciary.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and is currently the only Senator who still serves in the Air Force Reserves.

Alexium’s novel, eco-friendly fire retardant chemistry for multiple textile applications, including those used for military fabrics, are free of halogen, heavy metals and formaldehyde.

They allow the company to capitalise on the withdrawal or banning of many traditional FR chemistries for textiles due to the evidence of toxicity of halogenated compounds.

The halt will remain in place until the opening of trade on Tuesday 4th November, or earlier if an announcement is made to the market.
