accesso Technology (LON:ACSO), the support services specialists for theme parks and attractions, has won a new contract which represents the first full deployment for its ‘Passport’ ticketing suite in Europe.

The deal sees the ticketing service being piloted at Merlin’s SEA LIFE Birmingham.

It comes after a master service agreement was signed in March and follows a deal for a separate online pilot for Merlin’s Thorpe Park.

"We are looking forward to extending our pilot from eCommerce only at Thorpe Park to a full ticketing installation at SEA LIFE Birmingham,” chief executive Tom Burnet said in a statement.

“The continued deployment of accesso's solutions throughout Europe is generating considerable interest from a range of venues and attractions and we look forward to the continued growth within the region."

accesso’s Passport suite includes mobile point of sale for ‘queue busting’; ticketing point of sale; access control; season pass processing; eCommerce; and group sales.

Following up with Proactive Investors, Burnett revealed he is “extremely excited” by the progress and opportunities in the group’s ticketing business.

“I can see enormous opportunity in our ticketing space, both within our existing marketplace and beyond,” he said.

Burnett says he is thrilled at the chance to roll out of the full Passport product suite for the first time in Europe with Merlin, which he describes as “an iconic global brand.”

And while warning investors not to get too ahead of themselves, he describes the relationship with Merlin – which is apparently becoming closer – as a “good opportunity”.

“They are having a very good look at the technology,” he said.

“And we’re going to do our best job of delivering a great product to them in Birmingham and Merlin will at that point take a view upon what they want to do next.”
