Tangiers Petroleum (ASX:TPT; LON:TPET) has appointed oil and gas analyst David Wall as its new managing director.

The 39-year-old brings with him specialist knowledge of Africa focused junior explorers and also a good understanding of the capital markets, having helped companies raise over US$300mln.

Before becoming an analyst Wall held senior positions at the Australian independent Woodside, where he managed a small team that reported directly to the executive committee.

It was responsible for vetting reports before their submission to the board and was also generated the annual budget and “provided significant input” into the firm’s five-year plan.

“By virtue of these experiences, Mr Wall brings strong commercial and

strategic skills as well as generalist knowledge across all levels of the oil and gas industry,” Tangiers told investors.

“This is complemented by financial markets experience focussed on junior exploration companies, with specialist African knowledge.”

He takes over day-to-day running of the Morocco focused junior after executive chairman Eve Howell quit the group February.
