ECO Animal Health (LON:EAH) has received marketing approval in Canada for a pig feed version of its flagship antibiotic Aivlosin.

Canadian authorities granted authorisation for a 17% premix of Aivlosin for the in-feed medication of swine.

It is ECO’s second marketing authorisation in Canada and is important as it will allow a major expansion of the potential market in North America, said the company.

Canada is the ninth largest pork producing country in the world producing about two million tons per year. The premix will be marketed for the treatment of ileitis, an enteric disease, and follows marketing authorisation for a water soluble version of Aivlosin.

Peter Lawrence, ECO Animal Health’s chairman said: “This Canadian market authorisation is a further encouraging step in the ongoing development of Aivlosin as a multi-species, versatile brand that treats a multitude of different diseases.”
