Sunrise Resources to kick off drilling at Australian diamond project next week

August 21 2012, 7:48am The programme is designed to collect between one and two tonnes of kimberlite samples.

Sunrise Resources (LON:SRES) told investors that it can now proceed with a drilling programme on the Cue Diamond project in Australia.

This comes after an Aboriginal heritage survey was completed in the area.

Drilling is expected to start next week. The programme is designed to collect between one and two tonnes of kimberlite samples. It will also test targets for extensions to the known kimberlite areas.

"It is rewarding to report that the Cue diamond project has now progressed to this exciting drill stage and we look forward to reporting the results of diamond sampling and evaluation,” said executive chairman Patrick Cheetham.

Further surveying will take place around the Soapy Bore kimberlites where scattered artefacts were found. Meanwhile the discovery of a potentially important Aboriginal site at the Fennels Well area means further work is required to fully delineate the heritage area.

The company said that samples, totaling 50 kilograms, taken earlier this year from an outcrop have now been sent to the labs for evaluation.

Sunrise also told investors that the scoping study for the Derryginagh barite project is on-track for completion by the end of September.

It says that the mining studies are now largely complete, and a preliminary metallurgical design contract has been awarded to Wardell Armstrong International.
