Amur Minerals (LON:AMC) expects to resume drilling at its Kun-Manie nickel deposit in Far East Russia in June after a re-stocking of supplies of the site.
The 6,000 metre drill programme will target the Kabuk area, where a three kilometre long coincident geochemical and geophysical anomaly is present.
Earlier trench results along the western half of the target area indicated nickel and copper at nearly 50 metres in thickness and average grades of 0.63% nickel and 0.16% copper, Amur said.
A total of 2,500 metres is planned for the initial stage of drilling near the trenches where the mineralisation has been exposed.
The remaining metres will be based on the results from the initial stage of drilling.
Amur added it will be the first drilling conducted within the area and therefore there are no resources or reserves identified to date.
Robin Young, Amur’s chief executive, said the culmination of its restocking efforts was a very satisfying accomplishment and was no small feat.
“Now we await the final thaw after which we can begin drilling Kubuk, which is an exciting target."
The Kubuk nickel copper sulphide target is located along the Kurumkon Trend. Unusually heavy rain meant Amur could not drill the target as planned last year, but the drill rig is already on site as a result.
