Orosur Mining welcomes return of Tony Shearer as chairman

Orosur Mining's (LON:OMI, CVE:OMI) former chairman Tony Shearer has returned to the role.

Shearer was chairman from 2002 to 2009 and has now been appointed non-exec director and chairman of the gold mining company, which today revealed a new composition to its board.

He has been appointed until a new chairman is found. Ralph Browning, Mario Caron and Gijsbert Groenewegen have resigned as directors.

Meanwhile, Bill Lindqvist has said that he will not stand for re-election at the company’s next AGM after serving as director for more than eight years.

Chief executive David Fowler said: "Having served as chairman for seven years, he (Shearer) knows the company well and as a shareholder has continued to follow its progress closely since he stepped down in 2009.”

“I would like to thank Ralph, Mario and Gijsbert for their contributions to the company over the past three years."

Orosur is now looking for two new independent non-executive directors.

Its board now comprises chairman Tony Shearer with Bill Lindqvist, Roger Davey, Julio Porteiro, all independent non-exec directors, Ignacio Salazar as finance chief and David Fowler as chief executive.
