Bloomsbury Publishing buys Arden Shakespeare
Bloomsbury Publishing PLC said it bought Arden Shakespeare from Cengage Learning, but did not disclose details other than saying the transaction is not material.
Arden Shakespeare is a series of Shakespeare‘s complete work, originally created by the British publishing firm of Methuen in the late nineteenth century, and with the Arden Shakespeare Third Series nearing nearing completion. Each new volume supersedes the corresponding Second Series text, being edited from the original sources by a contemporary scholar.
Arden Shakespeare will retain its internationally recognised name and become part of the Methuen Drama imprint, acquired in 2006 by A&C Black which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bloomsbury.
