Herencia Resources plc is a multi-commodity development company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (‘AIM’) of the London Stock Exchange with a primary focus on developing its Paguanta Project in northern Chile. Herencia is progressing a Feasibility Study into the proposed Patricia Mine (zinc, silver, lead) within the Paguanta Project, with the goal of bringing the mine into production. Herencia is also focused on advancing exploration work on the Doris copper-silver prospect and the La Rosa porphyry-copper target in 2012. Herencia is also earning a 51% interest of the exciting Guamanga Copper-Gold Project in Chile. The Project has two components: a shallow, high grade copper-gold oxide target; and deeper, potential porphyry targets. Herencia has the backing of the global zinc group Nyrstar.
Herencia Resources kicks off drilling campaign at Guamanga copper-gold project
Herencia Resources (LON:HER) has kicked off a drilling campaign at its 51 percent owned Guamanga project in northern Chile, targeting the previously identified high-grade copper-gold zone.
The 1,000 metre diamond drilling programme is expected to conclude by the end of the month, while assay results should be available in February 2012.
Back in October, Herencia identified two new potential porphyry-copper targets at Guamanga, adding to the copper-gold target identified by high-grade assays returned from previous diamond drilling.
Mapping and sampling returned several anomalous surface assays for gold of up to 1.5 grammes per tonne (g/t), copper of up to 0.4 percent and molybdenum of up to 22 parts per million. Herencia said these anomalies provide the potential for the existence of a porphyry system.
“This is a very significant and unexpected development in our evaluation of the Guamanga project,” managing director of Herencia Resources Michael Bohm said at the time of the announcement.
“To be presented with two additional drill targets with the potential to host porphyry mineralisation at Guamanga is a real bonus for the company.”
Herencia’s flagship asset is the Paguanta project, which comprises the Patricia zinc-silver-lead-gold deposit and the Doris copper-silver and La Rosa copper targets.
Only two weeks ago, Herencia reported “impressive” drill results from Patricia, which showed high grade within broad widths of mineralisation and they include one of the best assays from the project.
Shares in Herencia rose 1.5 percent to trade at 2.05 pence this morning, valuing the company at £30.8 million.
