Horizonte Minerals Plc. is focused on exploration and development of mineral projects in Brazil. It has a successful track record in partnering with major mining companies. The Group is led by a management team with over 50 years of combined experience in the South American exploration and mining industry.
Principal projects include the wholly-owned Araguaia nickel laterite project, located in the southern Carajas Mineral District in Brazil, acquired in August 2010 from Teck. Work is focussed on the delivery of a 100 million tonne resource with fast track to Feasibility Study stage. On the gold programme Horizonte operates in partnership with Anglo Gold Ashanti to generate new world class projects in both north and southern Brazil.
Horizonte reports encouraging results from Parapa gold project sampling
Channel sampling at the project under option from Barrick Gold Corp returned up to 14.3 grams per ton of gold and 1,230 g/t silver over 0.8 metre width.
The Southern Vein of Parapa was found to average 3.6 g/t gold and 419 g/t silver over a 700 metres surface exposure and the Northern Vein was mapped on surface for over 600m.
Work is now underway to map and sample the numerous underground workings to determine the vertical continuity on the veins.
Horizonte CEO Jeremy Martin said: “These results demonstrate that the main veins show good continuous gold and silver grades, with multiple zones containing bonanza silver values of up to 1,230 g/t and gold grades to 14.3 g/t. Work is now underway to map and sample the numerous underground workings to determine the vertical continuity on the veins.
“Importantly, the Pararapa project is within trucking distance of five or six producing mines operating on similar style low sulphidation vein systems. We believe that a quality resource in this region has a captive local market,” Martin added.
Horizonte Minerals is an AIM-quoted international mineral resources exploration group focused on the identification, appraisal and development of gold and base metal deposits in Brazil and Peru.
