Eurasia Mining

Eurasia Mining Plc is a minerals development company, listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), currently operating in Russia. Eurasia's stated objective is to explore for platinum group of metals (PGMs) and gold on self-generated exploration targets and fund through joint venture partnerships with strategic operators and local partners. At present the company has two principal areas of operation in Russia, the Kola Peninsula and the Urals. Both are targets for PGM mineralization. In the Urals at West Kytlim, an alluvial platinum project is completing a bankable feasibility study and following successful permitting, going straight to mining. This is possible due to the low level of capital required for this type of operation and the suitability to scale up production in stages, funded from cash-flow. In Kola, the area consists of two exploration licences where good platinum and PGM grades have been obtained within bedrock targets. In 2008, both projects are being funded by Anglo Platinum in joint venture, earning a 40% interest in Kola by completing expenditure of $10 million and at West Kytlim, earning 50% by completing the bankable feasibility study. In addition to these PGM projects, work continues on targeting the acquisition of more advanced gold projects in Russia.

Eurasia Mining interims and interview

company news image

Platinum exploration and development company, Eurasia Mining (AIM: EUA) released interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2008, and to coincide with the results, Christian Schaffalitzky, CEO, spoke to Proactiveinvestors’ Harry Norman about the groups platinum projects in Russia.

In the group’s interim results today, Eurasia underlined a year of solid, if understated, progress. The company continued with drilling at its hard rock PGM exploration interests in the Kola Peninsula and advancement of its alluvial project in the Urals.   Both projects are held in joint venture with Anglo Platinum.

Specifically, Eurasia confirmed that additional drilling is underway at Monchetundra in the Kola, where the goal is to define a maiden resource.

At Volchetundra, drilling and exploration has indentified potential mineralisation over a 40 kilometre strike.  Drilling to date has uncovered low grade PGM zones, but has also highlighted a new zone of interest. Eurasia confirmed last week that it had extended its licence for a further three years.
Looking ahead, Eurasia’s joint venture with Anglo Platinum will reach its first milestone.  Anglo is expended to reach the required US$10 million in exploration in the near term, giving it a 40% interest in the Kola projects.  Anglo will also have to decide whether it wishes to acquire a further 20% interest within 60 days.

In the Urals at West Kytlim, Eurasia has continued drilling several new areas in parallel to resource drilling in the Bolshaya Sosvnovka area.  A Russian feasibility study has been submitted and approved by the authorities. The commencement of mining is currently expected to take place in 2009, subject to permitting.
