After 6 years of land acquisition and exploration in Ghana, Africa's #2 gold producer, PMI Gold is now focused on bringing its projects to near term production. PMI Gold controls 12 concessions covering 537 sq km -- in the heart of Ghana's major gold belts. Our holdings on the Asankrangwa gold belt alone are more than 70 km long -- the equivalent length of the entire Carlin Trend in Nevada -- and cover 3 past producing large scale mines and dozens of small historical operations.
PMI Gold appoints new CFO
Vancouver-based PMI Gold Corp (CVE:PMV), a junior gold exploration company, announced Thursday that it has appointed Michael Allen as CFO to replace Phillip Gibbs.
Allen, as a Chartered Accountant, has 30 years worth of experience, having had senior financial executive positions in the mining, advisory and investment industries.
As CFO and company secretary for Dragon Mining (ASX: DRA), he was involved in the acquisition of mining assets in Finland and Sweden, and managed the ongoing financial responsibilities in connection to the development of a gold mine in Sweden.
In the 1990s, Allen worked with Resolute Resources, the original owners of PMI’s Obotan gold project in Ghana, responsible for improving the company’s financial management procedures and project modeling.
He was also employed by mining giant AngloGold in Tanzania as a commercial and financial manager for the East Africa region, where he managed finance and legal issues and an extensive licence portfolio.
The appointment follows PMI's recruitment of another experienced resource executive, Thomas Amoah, as exploration manager.
"Mr. Allen and Mr. Amoah's experience in project development will prove invaluable as the company advances the pre-feasibility study at Obotan,” said PMI Managing Director Collin Ellison.
"PMI expects to continue building its team to ensure the company can take full advantage of its growth prospects and can manage the company's expanding exploration and development activities in Ghana," he added.
