Tethys announces management appts, organizational changes
Oil and gas company Tethys Petroleum Limited (TSE:TPL) said Monday it has made new appointments and promotions in its Dubai and London offices.
The first is Mark Sarssam, who will be the new vice president of Petroleum Development, based in the company's new operations and technical office in Dubai, effective April 17.
In his new role, Sarssam will be responsible for petroleum engineering, development and related activities aimed at achieving optimum production, reservoir evaluation and reserve definition of the company's properties in Central Asia.
Sarssam joins Tethys from Dragon Oil, where he was New Ventures advisor, and previously head of Reservoir Development focused on the Cheleken oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea, offshore Turkmenistan.
In addition, Tethys said that Veronica Zhuvaghena, previously the company's manager of Corporate Communications, has been promoted to the position of vice president of Communications, based in the London office.
Zhuvaghena joined Tethys last October, and previously worked in senior roles with ITE Group, where she was involved in business development, external relations and in organizing oil and gas trade shows and events.
Separately, Tethys said it has also streamlined its operations to cope with increased activities in Central Asia. From now on, there will be three functional groups at the company, namely Finance, Corporate and Technical/Commerical.
"The internal organisational changes improve the efficiency of the Company as it moves forward with its increased levels of activities on its successful projects in Central Asia - particularly the Doris oil development and the ongoing exciting exploration and appraisal programme in that area which will hopefully yield additional discoveries of oil and increase the Company's asset base," said chairman, president and CEO Dr David Robson.
