Goldrush Resources Ltd. is a junior mineral resource exploration company. It is exploring for gold in the West African country of Burkina Faso where it holds 5 highly prospective permits covering 922 sq. km. The Company's permits are all located within the West African Birimian Greenstone Belts having a prolific history of gold production in this area of the world.
Goldrush reports near surface gold mineralization at Salbo
Goldrush Resources (CVE:GOD) said Wednesday that rotary air blast (RAB) drilling at its Salbo permit in Burkina Faso has confirmed the presence of significant near-surface gold mineralization.
Salbo is located just north of the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, and 35 kilometres south of Goldrush's Ronguen gold deposit, which has a 249,000 ounce inferred resource.
The Vancouver-based company's RAB drilling program at Salbo was the first to test three northeast-southwest anomalous gold trends located in the central western part of the permit.
Highlights of 85 RAB drill holes include 1.74 g/t gold over 8 metres in hole SLBB11-023; 2.12 g/t gold over 6 metres in hole SLBB11-030; 1.81 g/t gold over 6 metres in holes SLBB11-055; 2.56 g/t gold over 4 metres in hole SLBB11-048; and 2.64 g/t gold over 3 metres in hole SLB11-001.
The company said that comparison of the RAB holes with the induced polarization (IP) survey results show that the gold mineralized holes are "clearly associated with strong chargeable" anomalies that extend to the limits of the one square kilometre IP grid area. Further exploration will test these IP anomalies, which indicate the potential for extending near-surface gold mineralization on strike.
In addition, despite some drilling difficulties due to resistant country rocks, a number of holes contained "anomalous gold content" at the bottom of the hole, Goldrush said, suggesting intersection of just the upper part of a gold zone. The company plans to use both reverse circulation and core drilling to further explore these deeper targets.
Separately, Goldrush also announced that it has received the results from RAB drilling on its two permits that comprise the Ronguen gold deposit, which will be released once they have been analyzed. The company intends to complete an upgraded resource estimate for the deposit later this year.
