Robust Resources Limited (ASX: ROL) is a Sydney-based miner exploring for Gold-Silver and Base Metals on Romang Island in Indonesia’s richly endowed Banda Magmatic Arc, 650km northwest of Darwin.
Robust is exploring highly prospective ground previously explored by Biliton (1990s). An initial 2000m drilling program with the Lakuwahi Caldera Project has identified wide zones of gold-zinc-silver-lead-copper mineralisation. All holes completed in the first round of drilling by Robust were open in every direction and at depth.
Robust is accelerating its exploration program in the 2010 financial year with a target of 5000m to be drilled using owner-operated diamond drill rigs and a local labour force for continuing economic efficiency.
With experienced management who have a track record of major discoveries, Robust holds a 51% interest in five mineral titles totalling 25,000ha covering the entire Romang Island, with an option to increase to 75%.
Robust Resources appoints new chief operating officer, expands rig fleet at Romang
Robust Resources (ASX: ROL) has appointed Gordon Lewis as chief operating officer to oversee development of its Romang Island project in Indonesia and is expanding its company-owned drilling rig fleet to fast track exploration.
Lewis will be based in Jakarta and oversee the next growth phase of the company's Indonesian projects as it embarks on a 27,000 metre, $10 million exploration program for calendar 2011.
A qualified engineer and mine manager, Lewis has over 30 years experience in mining and exploration, and has spent over 10 years working in Indonesia across on a number of gold production and exploration projects.
He was the founding mine manager of Rio Tinto's (ASX: RIO) +7 million ounce Kelian gold mine in Kalimantan, Indonesia, and was also the last person to build an operating gold mine in Indonesia, the Avocet Mining PLC (LON: AVM) Lanut mine in Sulawesi.
Robust has also appointed Warwick Browne as Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) Manager. Browne is a science graduate with a PhD in Natural Resource Management and has more than 10 years’ experience working in Asia assisting in the development of effective HSEC plans.
In addition the company has mobilised a seventh diamond core drill rig to commence the North Romang drilling program targeting a gold-rich copper porphyry system. Drilling will commence upon receipt of the first phase of data from an IP Resistivity survey to identify suitable drill targets.
Robust is also finalising the sale of its NSW exploration tenement to focus activities on Romang Island. This will result in the company securing an equity stake in an Australian focused gold exploration company.
In exchange for selling its Bauloora tenement (EL6414), Robust will hold 1.6 million shares at 25 cents per share in Gossan Hill Gold Limited, which is expected to list on the Australian Securities Exchange this year.
The company expects to announce more drilling results in the coming weeks as it continues to work towards delineating a maiden JORC mineral resource at Romang.
On March 8 Robust's drilling success continued at Romang with shallow high grade silver and gold mineralisation encountered at Batu Mas. The results further supported the consistently strong precious and base metals mineralisation at the project.
