Southern Silver Exploration Corp. (SSV-TSX.V; SEG-FRANKFURT) is a publicly traded Canadian-based precious and base metals exploration company. The company’s management team and professional staff have expertise in the acquisition, exploration and responsible development of potential world-class mining ventures in Mexico, New Mexico and Arizona. In New Mexico, the Oro project is a 1,150-hectare gold, silver, copper, lead and zinc project with excellent potential for new discovery. Drilling of the Oro Project is currently underway with results expected in Q2 of 2010.
In Mexico the company’s gold/copper Minas de Ameca project encompasses a 320 sq. km claim package in a 25 kilometer long mineralized trend in Jalisco State and the Pinabete project, a silver-zinc-lead Carbonate Replacement Deposit (CRD) deposit located in Chihuahua State. As well, the company’s has highly-prospective projects in Arizona. The company’s Arizona project is the Dragoon copper/molybdenum property located approximately 100 kilometres southwest of Tucson.
Southern Silver Exploration begins 3,000m drill program at Cerro Las Minitas
Southern Silver Exploration Corp. (CVE: SSV) said today that it has begun a 3,000 metre diamond drill program at its Cerro Las Minitas silver-lead-zinc project in Durango State, Mexico.
The Vancouver-based junior explorer has already completed a 1,100 line kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the property, identifying a number of targets that will be tested during the drill program.
The initial 3,000 metres will focus on four main target areas, and will look for both high-grade, silver-rich polymetallic and copper-gold skarn mineralization.
The 10,980 hectare Cerro project includes a 425 hectare area that has been the subject of previous small-scale mining by Noranda, and a larger unexplored gravel-covered area.
"Only a small portion of the property is exposed and the recent airborne and on-going surface geophysics have identified potentially significant unexplored gravel covered targets along some of the 25 kilometre strike-length," said president Lawrence Page.
Highlights of some Noranda drill results include an 11.45 metre interval grading 123g/t silver, 1.55% lead and 7.79% zinc from drill hole NGV-00-02; and a 1.41 metre interval grading 529g/t silver, 6.99% lead and 1.27% zinc from drill hole NGV-00-06.
